I've been nibbling on a tidbit of conversation that I had with someone recently. He said that it pisses him off when a woman complains that she's ugly. Then he went a step farther to say that he gets pissed off when a WHITE woman complains that she's ugly. It was the fact that he went out of his way to further qualify this remark by pointing out the fact that these women are white.
I'm not sure why this angers me. Every woman, black or white, is guilty of feeling ugly at some time or another. I think because white women are so prevalent in the media that they feel that they are found sadly lacking by society's standards. They might be the ones doing the most vocal complaining because they're the ones who are being shown-up by such high male standards. So basically, what I'm saying is that men make us feel ugly. In my opinion it's a mixed blessing that other ethnicities aren't portrayed as often as white people. To some it's a problem that feels like racism. On the other hand, however, I think the people on television and movies only make you feel ugly. (I know that Cory is going to have some words to say about this one.. Sorry Cory, please don't bring Model Minority to my door... lol..)
What would the world be like if there were no men? A bunch of fat, happy women with no crime. That's just what I see.
